Our Story
Two brands. One house. No shortcuts.
Since 2020, Mango Creek and Seemi's Confections have been made in the basement of our home in Aldie, Virginia: candles and soap in one room, chocolate in another. Everything begins with a recipe we wrote ourselves and a standard we have never been willing to lower. This is how it started.
Hina and Mohammed, Aldie, Virginia
Where it started.
It began with a question we could not put down. If a product calls itself natural, why can we not check what is in it? The more labels we read, the less we trusted them. So we stopped searching the shelves and started making things ourselves, Hina and Mohammed, at the kitchen counter.
Rose of Cairo was the tester that told us we were onto something. We lit it in the kitchen, and the scent climbed the stairs and found the whole house. It was pure euphoria. The two of us and the kids stood there, over the moon, in a room that smelled like roses and jasmine. Then came a soap that would become Milky Way. After it cured, it gave the softest lather we had ever felt. We knew.
Today every scent blend, wax formula and body care recipe is ours: no pre-made bases, nothing borrowed. Each one is tested, tweaked and tested again, then made by hand in small batches in our basement studio. If we would not use it ourselves, it does not leave the house.
What we will not compromise.
01
Our own recipes
Every formula is ours. No pre-made bases, no catalogue blends, nothing scaled from someone else's template. We write it, test it, and change it until it is right.
02
Made by hand, slowly
Candles are poured by hand, soap is left to cure, chocolate is tempered until it sets with a snap. The longer way keeps giving us the better result, so we keep taking it.
03
Held to a standard
If it carries our name, we would put it on our own table. Ingredients we can name, halal ingredients in every chocolate, and packaging chosen with the same care as the product inside.
For Seemi.
Where the name came from.
Seemi was Mohammed's mother. She found beauty in everything around her and met whatever life put in front of her with full attention and quiet dignity. She believed that if something is worth doing, it deserves your best effort. Not because the task demands it, but because you do.
Her name sits on every box. Behind it is a room in our basement, converted into a chocolate lab with sinks and long counters, where Mohammed makes every bonbon, bark and bar. Belgian couverture is melted, tempered and set until it snaps. Every ganache and caramel is a recipe he wrote, made with halal ingredients.
Chocolate rewards patience, and the willingness to start over when something is almost right. It suits her philosophy. Every collection is our way of saying her name well.
"One family. Two brands. The same standard in everything we make."
